SPECIFICATIONS
DESCRIPTION: Gymnasium Mat
GENERAL DIMENSIONS: folding mats recommended for use in general physical education programs, as basic tumbling mats, as basic mats to use beneath apparatus landing mats and as wall padding.
Mats must be 6’ x 12’ and shall be constructed in 2′ panels.
Mats must be constructed of polyethylene foam padding of
1-1/2″ (38 mm) thickness with Velcro on all 4 sides.
Mats shall have a 2″ vinyl flap on one end and one long side with Velcro loop fastener attached. It shall have 2″ Velcro hook on the underside of the opposite end and opposite side.
Mat must meet ASTM F1676-96 Standard Specification for Basic Tumbling Mats.
CONSTRUCTION:
Foam filler: The mat shall be constructed using 2′ x Mat Height x 1 1/2″ sections of polyethylene foam. The density of this foam is 1.5 lb/ft3.
Vinyl mat cover: The cover material of the mat shall be a vinyl laminated polyester fabric that has a finish weight of 14 oz per square yard. The fabric must contain antifungal and antibacterial agents and easily cleaned using mild soap and water. The cover fabric must meet the National Fire Protection Standard 701.
Color: The mat cover is to be forest green in color.
