Every young gymnast needs her own gymnastics tumbling mats. These panel mats fold in an accordian manner for easy storage and stacking. The general size of a panel mat is 4′x6′x2″. The mats also come in 8′ lengths and the thickness can vary from 1 3/8ths” to 2″. They are covered with a heavy duty polyester fabric for tear resistance and durability. The filling is a closed cell foam that rebounds, is light weight and durable.

The mats can be purchased at a sporting goods store, an online gymnastics equipment supplier or perhaps your own gym sells them. The mats usually sell for about $125-$200 depending on the manufacturer and size of the mat.  If your gym doesn’t sell these mats, maybe the idea of your booster club selling them during the Christmas holiday season would be a terrific fund raiser.

Not only are gymnastics mats great for your gymnast to practice her skills, they also are great as exercise mats for the moms and dads who prefer to exercise at home.
